Summer Health and Wellness Festival Set for June 21 at John Randolph Medical Center

(HOPEWELL, VA) June 4, 2008 – John Randolph Medical Center invites the community to its Summer Health and Wellness Festival on Saturday, June 21.

The festival, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the hospital grounds, will include free health screenings, mini-lectures by physicians and children’s activities. Other activities include a vendor fair, a tour of the SkySTAT air ambulance, entertainment by local dance groups, free mini-massages, and a healthy cooking demonstration.  

John Randolph Medical Center health experts will be on hand to share information about heart health, cancer prevention and treatment, emergency care, behavioral health, and other health care issues. Free screenings include blood pressure, body mass index, glucose, cholesterol, PSA (prostate-specific antigen), Dermascan (for skin cancer), fall balance risk assessment, scoliosis and brown bag medicine review.

A highlight of the festival will be the announcement of the middle and high school winners of the “Our Family Taking Care of Yours” essay contest. The two winners will each receive a $250 savings bond. The winners will be announced at noon.
